Seth MacFarlane said he is willing to make Ted Season 3 or even another movie, but he’s going to need Peacock’s “vast amounts of Big Scrooge McDuck money” to make it happen.

The mind behind Family Guy talked about the future of his raunchy teddy bear comedy franchise during a recent panel at Deadline Contenders TV. He also took the opportunity to address the elephant in the room: Why hasn’t Ted Season 3 been greenlit yet?

It’s at least a topic MacFarlane has on his mind. Although it sounds like nothing is in the works yet, he said the crew behind the prequel project would be willing to stick around for more Ted.

“It really is up to Peacock with their, you know, vast amounts of big Scrooge McDuck money that they dive into every day,” MacFarlane said. ‘I think all of us, in some form or another, whether it’s a Season 3 of Ted or a direct-to-Peacock feature with this cast, is something I think we’d all be up for. It’s all on the table.”

Ted began as a live-action comedy movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in 2012. A sequel featuring Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried then appeared in 2015 before the series took its teddy bear star (played by MacFarlane) to the TV world with Peacock’s Ted series in 2024. Instead of Wahlberg, the prequel project stars a younger version of his character, played by Max Burkholder.

It’s been a success for the streamer so far, with Season 1 landing as a record-breaking hit before Season 2 managed to rack up more than 1.2 billion minutes viewed in the month since its March 2026 premiere. Despite the popularity of the Ted show, MacFarlane told The Wrap last month that there is “no plan” to do a Season 3. He attributed the lack of an update to the cost to make the show, suggesting that Universal and Peacock weren’t interested in a continuation.

    Ted Season 2 Stills

“So [showrunners] Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan and I kind of painted ourselves into a corner,” MacFarlane said regarding the Season 2 finale. “Is there a way to do it? There’s always a way to do anything. But at the moment, it might take some narrative acrobatics. There’s no plan that I’ve heard of at the moment to do Season 3.”

While Ted Season 3 or a potential new Ted movie aren’t in the cards yet, MacFarlane is still working on the previously announced animated spinoff. Featuring Wahlberg, Seyfried, and MacFarlane, the series is expected to pick up where the sequel left off.

“And it’s really funny,” MacFarlane added at the Ted panel. “They’ve just done a phenomenal job. It’s joyful, at this point in my career, to get something off the ground and then watch it take shape under different stewardship. Brad and Paul have turned this thing into something that is fun for me to watch.”
