One of the fun things about anime adaptations is that sometimes you can still be surprised about what comes around. As part of the Jump Festa ’23 event back in December 2022, it was revealed that Blue Exorcist is getting a new adaptation. The show had two seasons produced previously back in 2011 and 2017 as well as a feature film. The manga from Kazue Kato began in 2009 and is still ongoing with twenty-eight volumes out so far as serialized in Jump SQ.
Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga saw a January 6th, 2024 premiere and at the end of it, we learned that the next run was set with an October 5th 2024 with Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga and that the second cour of it will go under the name Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga and saw a January 4th, 2025 debut.
Now, the manga is getting some new attention as it’s confirmed to resume serialization with the July 3rd, 2026, installment of Jump SQ. And as that’s closing in on us, the cover of the magazine has been revealed with the series showcasing some new artwork. The manga went on hiatus this past winter on March 4th, 2026.

The new season will be directed by Daisuke Yoshida from the scripts overseen by Toshiya Ono. Yuri Oohigashi will be both character designer and chief animation director with Studio VOLN handling the animation production.

The new season features the opening theme song “Re Rescue” from Reol, and the ending theme song is “Tsurara” by Yobahi.

Plot Concept: Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth—the blood of the demon lord Satan runs in Rin’s veins! Rin swears to defeat Satan, but doing that means entering the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. Can Rin fight demons and keep his infernal bloodline a secret? It won’t be easy, especially when drawing his father’s sword releases the demonic power within him!
