Nintendo has revealed that previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles are coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2026, but will be available only to Expansion Pack subscribers.
One of the main benefits of signing up to Nintendo Switch Online is access to classic games from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy. Those who purchase an Expansion Pack subscription can add N64 and Game Boy Advance to that roster, as well as GameCube for the Switch 2 owners.

It was revealed in a video on the official Nintendo YouTube channel that two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games are finally launching in 2026 and will be available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
The two games are Zero Racers and D-Hopper. Zero Racers is a 3D racing game that looks like a mix of F-Zero and Star Fox. D-Hopper is a top-down platforming game that uses the Virtual Boy’s 3D gimmick to make it seem like the protagonist is leaping towards the screen. A similar gimmick would be used years later in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
In addition to these unreleased games, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers will gain access to several other Virtual Boy games. Given that the Virtual Boy only sold 770,000 units, it’s an opportunity for many Nintendo fans to experience these games for the first time.

Virtual Boy games will be available on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on February 17, 2026. The following games will be available at launch:
- Galactic Pinball
- 3-D Tetris
- Teleroboxer
- Virtual Boy Wario Land
- The Mansion of Innsmouth
- Golf
- Red Alarm
Along with D-Hopper and Zero Racers, the following games will launch later in 2026:
- Mario Clash
- Mario Tennis
- Jack Bros.
- Space Invaders Virtual Collection
- Virtual Bowling
- Virtual Force
- V-Tetris
The Virtual Boy app on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 will include the usual Switch Online features, like rewind and control remapping. There’s also the ability to change the Virtual Boy color display from red to either yellow or green.
It’s surprising to see Nintendo showing so much love for the Virtual Boy, given that it’s one of the company’s biggest failures and has often been mocked by fans and Nintendo itself. The Virtual Boy had a few gems in its library, and 2026 might be the year it gets its due.
While the Virtual Boy games are a major addition to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack offerings, they aren’t the only new games being added in 2026. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance was added to the GameCube library on January 9, 2026. Hopefully, Nintendo fans will recieve even more new games throughout the year.
