With Netflix bringing on some Gintama recently, we learned in February 2026 that it looked like it was part of getting viewers introduced to the works of Hideaki Sorachi. The streaming service announced an anime adaptation of their debut work, Dandelion, which will arrive worldwide on the service in April 2026. It’s planned as a seven-episode series that has original content made for it since the original work is a one-shot that was released in 2002.

The series saw its formal debut on April 16th, 2026, today, and with its release, Netflix has a new clip out from it. When you’ve been together for 50 years, there are some things that don’t need to be said — and some things that do.

The series has Mataga Daisuke directing it from the series composition by Suzuki Yosuke. Asari Ai is handling the character designs with NAZ on the animation production.

    The Japanese cast includes:

    • Chikahiro Kobayashi as Tetsuo Tanba
    • Megumi Han as Misaki Kurogane
    • Daisuke Sakaguchi as Raymond Honda
    • Fumihiko Tachiki as Streaked Pork Man
    • Kazuhiko Inoue as Daigorō Kyōkawa
    • Kenshō Ono as Yūichi Kyōkawa
    • Kikuko Inoue as Seiki’s mother
    • Kujira as Inomata
    • Mamoru Miyano as Seiki Kyōkawa
    • Rie Kugimiya as Asako Kurogane
    • Satoshi Hino as Inuyama
    • Shinichirō Miki as Free Isobe
    • Susumu Chiba as Tamesuke Naitō
    • Tomokazu Sugita as Kikugumi squad leader
    • Yūki Ono as Shinji Kyōkawa

The English dub was produced at VSI Los Angeles with Kathy Pilon as the director working from the scripts by Gavin Cooper Harrison and Garret Hanson. The English dub cast includes Kaiji Tang as Tetsuo Tanba, Risa Mei as Misaki Kurogane, Amber Lee Connors as Asako Kurogane, Colby Rummell as Masaki Kyoga, Frank Todaro as Harukichi Nakayama, Jason Marnocha as Daigorō Kyōkawa, Joe Hernandez as Free Isobe, John Choi as Yūichi Kyōkawa, Keith Silverstein as Tamesuke Naitō, Kira Buckland as Jun Hirokawa, Ryan Colt Levy as Shinji Kyōkawa, Bill Rogers as Inuyama, Frank Todaro as Raymond Honda, Joe Hernandez as Takeshi, Keisuke Hoashi as Nobunaga, Keith Silverstein as Segodon, Khoi Dao as Ida, Kira Buckland as Etchan, Michael C. Pizzuto as Hirokawa, Michelle Ruff as Harukichi’s Wife, Nic Olsen as Proto, Sean Burgos as Male Chief, and William Salyers as One Eyed Man.

Additional voices include Amber Lee Connors, Bill Rogers, Deneen Melody, Frank Todaro, Jason Marnocha, Joe Hernandez, Keisuke Hoashi, Kira Buckland, Laila Berzins, Leigh Joel Scott, Michael C. Pizzuto, Michelle Ruff, Ryan Colt Levy, Sean Burgos, and William Salyers.

Plot Concept: Set within the Send-Off Department of the Japanese Angel Federation, Dandelion follows “Angels” Tetsuo Tanba and Misaki Kurogane as they scramble to track down Earthbound spirits — souls unable to move on and find peace — and gently guide them to pass on.

The angels find themselves struggling to meet their daily tasks. However, Tetsuo Tanba and his leader, Misaki Kurogane, who make up the 21st Division’s Dandelion Clan, chose to take things at their own pace: instead of rushing through cases, they take time with each spirit, listening to their regrets and helping them resolve what’s holding them back.

One day, they encounter the Earthbound spirit of an elderly man who is running at full speed, trying desperately to escape.
