Image and Dynamite are teaming up for a new crossover between Witchblade and Vampirella. Like Marvel and DC’s new team-ups for Batman & Deadpool, and Superman & Spider-Man, the crossover will consist of two one-shots from the respective publishers: Witchblade/Vampirella #1, by Marguerite Bennett & Laura Braga, and Vampirella/Witchblade #1, by Erica Schultz & Valentina Pinti.

The synopsis for the first one-shot says, “Detective Sara Pezzini has seen her share of things that go bump in the night… but nothing like this. When a mutated vampire descends on the city, leaving a trail of blood and chaos, even Sara is pushed to her limits. Just as hope begins to fade, help arrives in the form of a legendary hunter of the undead: Vampirella. But with Sara already infected by the creature’s bite, time is running out. Will Vampirella be forced to stake first, ask questions later?”
Matt Hawkins, President and COO of Top Cow (the Image imprint that Witchblade calls home), says, “This is the kind of crossover that only works when everyone leans in — creatively and as partners. You’ve got two iconic characters, two publishers, and a story that doesn’t play it safe. It puts Sara and Vampirella on a collision course where trust is fragile and the consequences are permanent.”
Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite, adds, “It’s been over 20 years since Witchblade and Vampirella teamed up. The previous stories were fantastic, and we needed the right creators to ensure that we were bringing even more compelling stories to the fans. Working hand-in-hand with Top Cow, we were able to do just that. These stories will excite fans and we can’t wait to get these stories into fans’ hands.”
Bennett comments, “Witchblade and Vampirella go together like me and Laura Braga — our story is fun, sexy, ferocious, and full of monstrosity. Times are tough and everyone deserves a treat — including Sara Pezzini and Vampirella.” The writer, who worked with Braga before on DC’s Bombshells, has written Witchblade since the current volume’s launch in 2024, while Braga illustrated it from 2014 to 2015. Schultz has written several book featuring Vampirella, and previously teamed up with Pinti at Marvel on Daredevil: Unleash Hell and Laura Kinney: Sabretooth.
The first crossover will be released by Top Cow on August 26, with covers by Braga, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Sveta Shubina. Dynamite’s installment will follow in September. In the meantime, issues #21-23 of Witchblade will be released from May to July, while Vampirella Summer Special, written by Schultz, will hit stores on July 8.
