Bandai Namco Pictures previously put together a new anime series that made its debut in July 2024 with Wistoria: Wand and Sword. The series adapts the original manga by writer Fujino Omori and artwork by Toshi Aoi, which began in 2020 and is ongoing, and is released in English through Kodansha Comics. Omori is known primarily for their work on the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? light novel series. Crunchyroll previously announced its pickup of the series, where it’ll be available to viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
We learned at the end of September 2024 that a second season is in the works, and it was recently set for a spring 2026 debut. With an April 12th, 2026, premiere date, the latest update has the first preview of the 16th episode ahead of its May 3rd, 2026, debut.
The anime has Tatsuya Yoshihara moving from director to general director, with Hideki Nakano serving as the director. Ayaka Ono is handling the character designs and serving as the chief animation director at Actas × Bandai Namco Pictures.
The Japanese cast includes Kohei Amasaki as Will Serfort, Akira Sekine as Elfaria Albis Serfort, Satomi Amano as Colette Loire, Masaaki Mizunaka as Sion Alster, Aoi Inase as Kiki, Satomi Amano as Colette Loire, Masaaki Mizunaka as Zion Alster, Aoi Inase as Kiki, Tetsuya Kakihara as Julius Rainburg, Kengo Kawanishi as Ignor Lindor, Lynn as Liana Owenzaus, Tomokazu Seki as Workner Norgram, Koji Yusa as Ligarden as Edward Serfence, Rumi Okubo, Kazuki Ura, Tomohiro Ono, Shinya Takahashi, Atsushi Tamaru, Reiko Suzuki, Jun Fukuyama, Makoto Furukawa, Sora Amamiya, Hochu Otsuka, and Akio Otsuka.
The first season features the theme songs “Fire and Fear” from Penguin Research and the ending theme song “Frozen” from TRUE. The second season features the opening theme song “BELIEVERS” as performed by ASH DA HERO, and the ending theme song “Reachlight” as performed by Shiyui.

Plot Concept: A hard-working boy named Will enters a magic academy in hopes of becoming a great sorcerer. Unfortunately, there’s a fatal flaw in his plan: he lacks the ability to use magic. Amid the cold stares of his classmates and instructors, Will feels discouraged at times, but he presses forward with unwavering determination. He can’t use a wand, but he can wield a sword in his battle to reach the top of a magic-dominated world. He just needs to believe in his own unique strengths and remember the promise he made with someone precious to him…
