Like any survival crafting adventure, Windrose has a ton of new materials and recipes to unlock upon reaching a new area. There are three distinct biomes in the early access build, each with their own Discovery section in your character menu, and a few items from every region can be a bit of a pain to find.
That’s why I’ve gone ahead and found them all for you, then compiled them into this nice Windrose Discovery list below. I’ve sorted them each by region, plus noted any boss and questing requirements you’ll need to complete to proceed.
April 17, 2026: Windrose just launched, and much like the early access game, this guide is a work in progress! Keep checking back in as I fill in any missing details or recipes, but for now, it’s still a good reference for comparing your Windrose Discovery list with my complete one.
Coastal Jungle

The Coastal Jungle is Windrose’s first zone, and the only one you’ll need to complete several main quests for before moving on. The process starts with I Need a Bigger Boat and Rescuing the Crew, so finish those up while you do the tutorial quests, and you’ll eventually move on to unlock the Foothills after a fight with Thomas Richards.

Three Discoveries in this region are a bit of a pain—the Crab Shell, Palm Seeds, and Ficus Seeds—but I swear they’re real.
For the Crab Shell, keep picking up those little red crabs running along the beach (not the hostile Thorn Fiddlers). For the Palm and Ficus Seeds, just keep chopping those trees down. I swear they’ll drop eventually.

Your journey grows a little harder upon venturing into the Foothills, as it’s filled with hostile pirates, wolves, and goats that hit like a truck. This region takes a while to conquer, so take your time, upgrade your ship, and make sure you craft an Iron Pickaxe and Axe ASAP.
Most items in the Foothills were pretty easy to find, though it did take me a while to find Corn. I had to visit three different islands before finally finding a batch growing near a large statue and the Ancient Village landmark.

The Cursed Swamps make up the last region available in Windrose’s current early access build, and it’s awfully tough to survive when you’re entering fresh from the Foothills. Try and pace yourself, it’s not like there’s anything after this (for now), and be careful when you see patches of glowing pink forest—lest you catch the plague.
The Beans were the only Discovery I struggled to find, so if you’re stuck there too, just keep exploring and searching every ‘Ruin with a Flowerbed’ landmark you come upon. They’re usually brimming with Leeks, but you’ll dig up Beans eventually.
