Wandering Planet Toys has announced a new Kickstarter campaign for a line of retro-style Planetoid Raiders action figures. Today, The Beat can exclusively reveal the Buzzz figure and a new Planetoid Raiders theme song written and performed by Johnathan Pushkar.
The Planetoid Raiders figures are inspired by a line of action figures released by Hong Kong-based indie toy manufacturer Tomland Toys in 1977. Loosely inspired by Star Wars, these action figures known as the Starroid Raiders vaguely resembled aliens from the Lucasfilm giant but developed a fanbase despite their “knock-off” status. Wandering Planet channels the “retro cosmic madness” of Tomland Toys into the Planetoid Raiders.
Buzzz, First Mate of the Planetoid Raiders, hails from the planet Buzzz. According to Wandering Planet, he’s “on all the apps.” Check out the Buzzz action figure below.
Ahead of the Planetoid Raiders Kickstarter launch, The Beat can also reveal the team’s theme song, written and performed by Nashville-based singer-songwriter Johnathan Pushkar.
Wandering Toys has previously revealed the Captain Oton, Ryot, and Sloog figures, with more to come. Each one is limited edition, 5-point articulated, 1:18 scale.
