The seasons continue to change as we move from spring to summer, with a lot of shows wrapping up, but always new things coming out. We’ve had a number of things we’ve checked out, but a lot of what I’ve been doing is rewatching older stuff. There’s a good mix of things as we gear up to get back into our Nordic Noir and some Brit crime, but as we barely watch any primetime broadcast stuff, it’s pretty much a feast-or-famine kind of situation for a lot of things.
Time in the evenings to watch much for me the last couple of weeks has been scarce as I’ve crashed hard during the evenings since I’m now on dementia duty with my mother. That said, there have been a lot of fun things recently, and I’ll cover briefly those that are worth checking out.
One returning new show that I’ve been keen on arrived with the third season of Silo. The show got a renewal for both a third and a fourth/final season as it adapts the novels and short stories – and comic – which gives it room to tell more of the larger picture. This episode is going to be rough for some folks with Juliette going through memory loss after the way the second season ended, but it’s interesting to see how things are changing and how the “larger intelligence” behind the silo is orchestrating it to keep things on track. I definitely appreciate getting more of the alternate present-day storyline and am excited to see more there.
Next up, we’ve got a look at a great show that has returned with the third season of My Adventures with Superman. With the 3rd episode, I’ll admit, getting the show to have fun with Giganta in it is a big plus, and watching as Jimmy gets caught up in that and forces Clark to as well is just a delight. Honestly, it’s the smaller moments that worked the best here. Giganta leaning over the table to quiz Jimmy, Kara discovering the mall and doing a musical number with Lois, and the bit about Clark trying to get a dog for a moment. The big one is watching Lois process her future a bit with Clark in the way someone in their early twenties like her would, because the scale of choices and understanding it is doing her head in a bit. And then add in all the chyron moments from the WORMS thing, and it’s fun. Like past episodes, there’s probably just a bit too much going on in the episode, but it delivers a delightful episode of levity while nudging the larger storyline ahead just a bit.
