If, like us, you can’t read a book without wanting to see the story played out IRL, you’re in luck – Prime Video has a line-up of page-to-screen hits that will keep you glued for months. Whether you’re revisiting old favourites or meeting iconic characters for the first time, these adaptations bring some of the bestselling novels to life with drama, romance, mystery, and plenty of binge-worthy moments. Want to know where to start? Here’s our list.

    Scarpetta

© Amazon MGM Studios / Connie Chornuk

    Release date: 11 March

Anticipation is building for Scarpetta, the upcoming crime drama starring Nicole Kidman as the eponymous forensic pathologist at the heart of Patricia Cornwell’s beloved novel series. With 29 books and a loyal fanbase, expectations are high, but fear not – early details suggest the series delivers. Spanning two timelines and adapted from two novels, the show intertwines Kay Scarpetta’s early career in the late 1990s with a present-day return to investigate a new murder and complex, tension-filled relationship with her sister, played by Jamie Lee Curtis. Simon Baker, Rosy McEwan and Bobby Cannavale also star in this multi-layered thriller, which is already shaping up to be unmissable for both fans and newcomers.

    56 Days

© Amazon MGM Studios / Philippe Bossé

    Release date: Out now

Starring Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia as Ciara and Oliver, 56 Days is a new series loosely based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s award-winning thriller. Beginning innocently enough – boy meets girl in a supermarket, they go on a date and fall dangerously hard for each other – the series takes a turn when, just 56 days later, police discover a decomposing body inside Oliver’s apartment. Did he kill her, did she kill him? Told through dual timelines, the series weaves a gripping murder mystery with a darkly addictive love story. While the much-praised novel is set in Ireland, the Prime Video adaptation shifts the action to the US – a change that has done little to dampen the excitement, especially after the explosive trailer packed with twists, tension and intrigue.

    Love Me, Love Me

    © Amazon MGM Studios

    Release date: Out now

If you loved The Summer I Turned Pretty and are still obsessed with Maxton Hall, consider this your next must-watch. Love Me, Love Me may look like a classic love triangle on the surface, but book fans know it doesn’t stay that way for long. Based on Stefania S’s bestselling Italian book series, the film follows 16-year-old June as she moves to Milan with her mum in search of a fresh start. At her new school, she’s drawn to two boys: the charming, but dangerous James and the reliable, golden boy William – only to discover that nothing is quite as it seems. Starring Mia Jenkins as June and Pepe Barroso Silva as James, the cast has already got fans buzzing and, honestly, we get it.

    The Summer I Turned Pretty

© Amazon MGM Studios / Erika Doss

    Release date: Out now

We couldn’t talk about book adaptations without mentioning Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty. The series has been a fan-favourite since the first season premiered in 2022, with the finale airing last year. Lola Tung shines as Isabel “Belly” Conklin, spending summers at the Fisher family beach house and navigating a love triangle with brothers Conrad and Jeremiah. The series updates the story with more diversity and deeper character development, while staying true to the heart of Han’s novels. And with a film on the way, the story isn’t over yet.

    We Were Liars

© Amazon MGM Studios / Jessie Redmond

    Release date: Out now

Another page-to-screen hit worth shouting out is We Were Liars, based on E Lockhart’s bestselling novel. Emily Alyn Lind stars as Cadence “Cady” Sinclair, a teen who returns to her family’s private island after a mysterious accident, only to uncover dark secrets with her friends. The show’s condensed timeline ramps up the drama, while the extra depth, twisted relationships and the gut-wrenching moments make it a worthy adaptation. So, whether you’re in it for the secrets, tension or heartbreak, it’s totally addictive – and a second season, including stories from the prequel Family of Liars, is already on the way.

    The Idea Of You

    © Amazon MGM Studios

    Release date: Out now

If you’re in the mood for a swoony rom-com, The Idea of You hits the spot. Anne Hathaway stars as 40-year-old single mom Solène, who sparks a whirlwind romance with 24-year-old boyband star Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine). The movie tweaks a few things from Robinne Lee’s 2017 novel with a fresh five-year jump ending, softer family drama and slightly older characters, but it keeps all the heart. Sweet, charming and fun, it’s a love story that’s easy to fall for.
