The fourth and penultimate season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is beaming in this summer, and it’s time to get hyped: the first teaser trailer for Season 4 and an official release date were both revealed on Saturday, April 25th, 2026 at CCXPMX convention in Mexico City. Scroll on down to watch the trailer for yourself, which includes several shots of an episode that appears to feature everyone’s favorite extinct Earth animals, the dinosaurs (sorry, dodo birds).

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 teaser trailer
The teaser trailer for Strange New Worlds season 4 promises plenty of cross-genre thrills, as the series has earned a reputation for delivering. Of course, at only a minute and five seconds in length, we’re mostly only getting hints of what’s to come.

But those hints are tantalizing indeed. One shot of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong) and Doctor Joseph M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) wearing cowboy hats whilst horseback riding suggests we’re getting back to the Franchise’s roots with a Western-themed episode. We also see a shot revealing the triumphant return of the U.S.S. Enterprise (no bloody A, B, C, D, E, F or G) warp core set, in a shot that depicts La’an surrounded by a crowd of shadowy figures (at least some of which seem to be real live actors). And finally, several shots seem to suggest we’ll be getting a dinosaur episode (but one about more traditional dinosaurs, not the Voth).

Naturally, we also see glimpses of the returning cast of characters. This includes Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn, who juggled her Avengers: Doomsday filming schedule with Strange New Worlds‘ production) and Spock (Ethan Peck). We also get a look at the show’s other returning original character, Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia). Presumably present in the season but not obviously appearing in the teaser or promotional pictures is Chief Engineer Pelia (Carol Kane).

And of course, rounding out the cast are Strange New Worlds‘ incarnations of the rest of the returning Star Trek: The Original Series characters: Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose-Gooding), Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), Montgomery “Scotty” Scott (Martin Quinn), Sam Kirk (Dan Jeannotte) and James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley).

Previously it was announced that we’ll be seeing new incarnations of two other TOS characters before Strange New Worlds has concluded. These are Hikaru Sulu (Kai Murakami) and Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy (Thomas Jane).

And in addition to the clips teased in the trailer, we also know that we’re getting a puppet-themed episode in Strange New Worlds season 4 thanks to footage revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. Plus, there have been rumors of an anime episode as well.
