Things are moving right along for the manga series My Idolized Author Wasn’t Human After All, as it’s now nabbed the 6/2026 cover of Comic Gene magazine with new artwork. Known originally as Akogare no Sakka wa Ningen ja Arimasen deshita (憧れの作家は人間じゃありませんでした), it began in 2024 from writer Mikage Sawamura and artist Touji Aio, where it has two volumes out in Japan so far.
Sawamura made their debut with the 2018 novel Junkyouju Takatsuki Akira no Suisatsu, and this is their second work, with Aio having the same two works to their name, though with the manga adaptation of the first rather than the novel.
Monthly Comic Gene launched in June 2011 as a Japanese manga anthology magazine by Media Factory.
Plot Concept: He’s certainly a monster. But so what?
Asahi Sena, a second-year literary editor, becomes the editor for her idol, author Zen Misaki. They hit it off over their shared love of movies, but he’s actually a vampire and is cooperating with the police on a case involving a non-human being…!?
