Welcome back to The Beat Digest, a twice-weekly round-up of the biggest comics-related news stories we’ve missed every Tuesday and Friday. Is there a story out there you think we should cover? Be sure to let us know in the comments.

§ Adult Swim dropped the trailer for My Adventures with Superman season three, offering us our first look at Cyborg Superman (Max Mittelman), Superboy (Darren Criss), and the show’s version of Wonder Woman villain Giganta. Plus: Lois Lane (Alice Lee) punches Lex Luthor (Mittelman). The new season will premiere on the Toonami block on Saturday, June 13, at midnight ET/PT (effectively the next day), before being added to HBO Max.

§ Deadline reports Tangles, the animated film version of Sarah Leavitt‘s graphic memoir, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to a seven-minute standing ovation. The movie, directed by Leah Nelson, tells the story of Leavitt and her late mother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in the 1990s. It features the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Abbi Jacobson, Bryan Cranston, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Bowen Yang, Wanda Sykes, Beanie Feldstein, and Samira Wiley, and you can check out an exclusive clip at The Hollywood Reporter.

Biker Mice From Mars: Scorch #1 cover by Tango

§ Via Nerdist, Oni Press and the Nacelle Company revealed Biker Mice From Mars: Scorch, a four-issue spin-off by Matt Hotson and V Ken Marion, starting August 12. The comic introduces a new anti-heroic, female Biker Mouse, who possesses “sinister secret[s]” connecting her to the original trio, and the evil Plutarkians. It’ll mark Oni’s third Biker Mice series since 2024, and the second by Hotson, who co-wrote the 2025 run. He and Marion previously teamed up on another Nacelleverse title last year, Power Lords.

§ ICv2 shared an exclusive preview of Power Rangers Green, the third of BOOM! Studios’ upcoming PR series. The book, by Paul Allor and Gustaffo Vargas, follows an older Tommy Oliver (the original Green Ranger, and now the last Power Ranger) as he comes out of retirement. Issue #1 will be released on August 5, after the relaunch of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers on June 3, and the start of Power Rangers Unlimited on July 1. A preview of all three was made available in this month’s Comics Giveaway Day release Power Rangers #0.

§ Marvel Rivals season eight, Sins of Alchemax, is being launched today. The free update will add Devil Dinosaur and the X-Men’s Cyclops as playable characters, with Devil arriving first, in a premise about him entering the fray after Moon Girl/Lunella Lafayette and Cyclops/Scott Summers are incarcerated by the evil Alchemax corporation. While unconfirmed, it appears Diamond White, who voiced Lunella on the Disney Channel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, is reprising her role for the game.

§ Legendary launched Godzilla x Kong: The Art of Monsterverse Comics on Kickstarter. The 240-page artbook showcases work by Arthur Adams, Zid, Drew Johnson, Christian Ward, and more from all the of comics based on the company’s Godzilla & Kong films and TV series to date. The book, which has raised $47,351 of its $50,000 goal, will feature an all-new cover by EJ Su. The project’s launch comes between the end of season two of the Apple TV release Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and the next movie, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, due out March 26, 2027.

§ Finally, Anime News Network reports longtime Lupin the Third composer Yuji Ohno passed away in his sleep on May 4, aged 84. Ohno came aboard the franchise for its second anime series in 1977, composing the show’s iconic theme song. He was involved in various subsequent Lupin the Third projects, including scoring Hayao Miyazaki‘s The Castle of Cagliostro, and (more recently) the 2021 series Lupin the 3rd Part 6. Originally a jazz pianist, Ohno’s work included other films, anime, travel programs, and TV commercials. No information on survivors was available at the time of writing.
