There are a few things that are pretty standard in the manga and light novel world, and that’s when something is teasing a big announcement, you can make an easy bet that an anime adaptation is going to be announced. The Witch Hat Atelier manga series revealed back in 2022 that an anime adaptation was coming, but it was one of those announcements made likely before any production had even started. The series has been updated regularly over the past year, with it set for an April 2026 debut that has Crunchyroll picking up for subscribers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
Set for an April 6th, 2026, premiere date, Crunchyroll is now releasing new clips from the show with this one from the sixth episode. All magic is special to her, but this one…
Set with Ayumu Watanabe is directing it with BUG FILMS for the animation production. Kairi Unabara is handling the character designs and serving as the chief animation director. Jun Shinohara has joined as the assistant director with Hiroshi Seko on script supervision.

- Natsuki Hanae as Qifrey
- Hibiku Yamamura as Agott
- Kurumi Haruki as Tetia
- Hika Tsukishiro as Richeh
- Yūichi Nakamura as Olruggio
- Misaki Kuno as Brushbuddy (Fudemushi)
- Mitsuki Saiga as Iguin
- Kotono Mitsuishi as Alaira
The dub has EmilyFajardo directing it from the adaptation by Ben Phillips. The English cast includes Anjali Kunapaneni as Coco, Joshua Waters as Qifrey, Bryn Apprill as Brushbuddy, Erin Lundquist as Iguin, Madeleine Morris as Agott, Nerida Bronwen as Richeh, Reagan Murdock as Olruggio, Sarah Wiedenheft as Tetia, Paige Guillory as Temerl, Reshel Mae as Kamla, and Stephanie Young as Coco’s Mom.
Known originally as Tongari Boushi no Atelier, the property comes from creator Kamome Shirahama which began in 2016. It’s serialized in Morning Two magazine. It’s at fourteen volumes in Japan so far and ongoing and has a spinoff with 2019’s Tongari Boushi no Kitchen. Kodansha Comics acquired the series in 2018 and has been releasing print editions of it.

Plot Concept: In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: she wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch … until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem.
