A new film was in the works for a fall 2025 debut with the announcement earlier this year of Toritsukare Otoko. Translating as Obsessed Man, it’s coming from Bandai Namco Films. The adapts the 2006 novel by Shinji Ishii, with Wataru Takahashi directing it from the screenplay by Naoyuki Miura. Masatsugu Arakawa is handling the character designs with Shinei Animation on the animation production.
With a November 7th, 2025, release date, the Japanese home video releases are now being detailed. The film is set for a June 24th, 2026, release date where there will be three editions:
- BD LE: 8,800 yen
- BD Reg: 5,800 yen
- DVD Reg: 4,800 yen
All sets come with an audio commentary on the main disc, while the limited edition has a bonus disc with a visual commentary and various previews, event material, and making-of featurettes.
As we’re a few weeks away from the release now, we have a look at the limited edition cover and regular edition cover:

Plot Concept: Giuseppe’s nickname is “The Crazy Man.” When he becomes obsessed with something, he is obsessed with it, awake or asleep. Opera, the triple jump, collecting sunglasses, clam-digging, embroidery, mice, etc. But he falls in love with a balloon seller who comes from a cold country. The silent girl’s name is “Pechika.” Giuseppe tries to warm up her heart, frozen with sadness, using all his skills, but… A dazzling and pure love story.
