There are three Black Comic book events happening this weekend, as Juneteenth is fast approaching, two are in person, and one is online. Here is a quick guide to navigating this weekend and getting your blerd on.
If you’re in New York City, then your first stop is uptown at the historic Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem.

Saturday, June 13, 11 am – 7 pm
Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
515 Malcolm X Blvd, New York, NY 10030
THE SCHOMBURG CENTER’S CENTENNIAL FESTIVAL 2026 has absorbed what was once a Mecca for Blerds, the Black Comic Book Fest or SchomCom, the focus is more on the literary side of reading, with a lineup of some heavy hitters of the written word.
On the comic side, Afrofuturist creator Tim Fielder (INFINITUM and Matty’s Rocket) will be doing his informative and entertaining, How To Draw Black Comic Books panel. There will also be the incredibly popular fan favorite Cosplay Showcase, along with a marketplace to buy comics and books. For more information and to sign up, go to the Eventbrite link.
For a more comic book-centric convention, head across the river to Jersey City, where the 3rd annual JERSEY CITY BLACK COMIC CON 2026 will be held.

Saturday, June 13 – Sunday, June 14, 11 am – 6:30 pm
Mary McLeod Bethune Life Center

Partnering with Gotta Go Gaming LLC, this con is reminiscent of the Black Comic Book Fest’s early days, a space for Blerds to come out and celebrate their favorite comics and heroes, but their Instagram statement lays it out best;
In honor of Juneteenth, we’re bringing culture, creativity, and community together for a powerful two-day celebration of Black excellence in comics, art, fandom, and storytelling. From visionary creators and artists to family-friendly experiences and community pride, this weekend is about honoring our past, celebrating our present, and imagining bold Black futures. Save the date and stay tuned—this is more than a con, it’s a movement.
For more information and to sign up, go to the Eventbrite link.
For the last event, warm up your computer for INK & PANELS Vol. 2, presented by OFF BLXXK Magazine.

Online event
Friday, June 12 – Saturday, June 13 • 9 am – 6 pm EDT
This is the 2nd annual online event from OFF BLXXK Magazine, and this sophomore con, in its own words, is “an online webinar bringing some of your favorite artists, writers, animators, indie publishers, and more together to help YOU get into the manga/comics/animation business.”
To back that statement up, they’ve assembled a powerhouse roster including Eisner-nominated writer Stephanie Williams (Temporal and Roots of Madness), David Crownson (Harriet Tubman: Demon Slayer), and Joseph P. Illidge (New History of The DC Universe: The Dakota Incident). For the full list of speakers, one more time, the information and sign-up can be found on their Eventbrite link.
The celebrations for Juneteenth are lined up and ready to go.
