A new anime adapdation is in the works with From Overshadowed to Overpowered getting the nod back in February 2026. While it started as a light novel series by ARata Shiraishi, the anime adaptation is focused on the manga adaptation as its source, which comes from Kentarou. Known originally as Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musō: Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsushi Bōkenroku, the manga began in 2019 and has eight volumes out so far, with Comikey releasing it in English. The novels began in 2019 as well and have eight volumes as of 2022.
With a summer debut set previously, the production has now confirmed a June 25th, 2026, streaming premiere date. This comes alongside a new promo and visual.

The series has Hisashi Ishii directing from the scripts supervised by Deko Akao. Hideki Furukawa is handling the character designs with EMT Squared on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Shuichiro Umeda as Ephtal
- Reo Osanai as Anastasia
- Haruka Shiraishi as Marin
The series fatures the opening theme song “+Encount” as performed by FLOW, while the ending theme song is “Dokei” as performed by TrySail.

Plot Concept: Ephtal is reincarnated as a human, coming from modern Earth. In this new world where magic is real, he decides to devote the entirety of his life to the pursuit of magic. Despite his efforts, though, he discovers that he is absolutely talentless in magic, and breathed his last in anguish….But it isn’t the end for him just yet! He reincarnates once again bearing the same name, Ephtal, 400 years later. Having retained his knowledge and power, he steels his resolve and once again sets his sights for the peak of magic!
