MASON CITY, Iowa — The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is celebrating Youth Art Month with its 42nd annual School Art Exhibition, themed “First Artistic Steps.”
Currently on display in the Museum’s Center Space Gallery, the exhibition highlights the creativity of students in grades K-4.
Art teachers from the Central Rivers Area Education Agency, Clear Lake Regional Office, submitted their students’ artwork for this showcase. Selected student artists will be honored at a recognition ceremony on March 28 at 11 a.m. at the museum. Recognition certificates and awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will be hosted by Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary sorority for women in education, and is free and open to the public.
Youth Art Month aims to emphasize the importance of art education, fostering critical thinking, self-esteem, and cooperative skills. “First Artistic Steps” will be on display through April 18.
The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum offers free admission to the public. Visit www.macniderart.org for visitor information.
