Things recently to a close for another manga series as Back Home Blues ended with the May 1st, 2026, installment of Big Comic Original marked 10/2026. Known originally as バックホームブルース, it began in 2023 by Kenichiro Nago and has six volumes to its name. A seventh and final is set for a June 30th, 2026, release, and we’ve got the cover artwork below.
Nagao made their debut in 1999 with Viva! Shinshunki and have nine works to their name.
Big Comic Original is a Japanese seinen manga magazine published by Shogakukan, aimed at an older adult and mostly male audience. It is a sister magazine to Big Comic.
Plot Concept: The man’s name is Kanjiro Aozora. A professional baseball player in his 25th year. His nickname is “Lonely Blues.” He has only one obsession: hitting home runs as far as possible. He transfers to the perpetually last-place Shonan Seagulls on a precarious deal: a salary of 2.5 million yen plus performance bonuses. A fresh start in a seaside town, he begins a new life with his three children. But soon after moving, he gets into a fight with the town’s neighborhood association chairman and is ostracized…!? Everything he does is chaotic, causing great trouble for his family and teammates! …But, surprisingly, he has some good points too!? An old-fashioned, clumsy Showa-era man is going to break through the stifling modern world!? A hilarious and heartwarming baseball-themed family comedy begins!!
