Jacob Tierney has experienced wild success over the past few months with the release of Heated Rivalry, and he’s about to experience even more.
Heated Rivalry took the world by storm at the end of 2025 and has since reached over 10.6 million viewers in the US. Tierney, the show’s director and writer, recently announced some exciting news: he’s about to take us behind the scenes of his hit show.
On October 13, Tierney will be releasing his first book, I’ll Believe in Anything: The Making of Heated Rivalry Season 1 (The Annotated Scripts).
“You’ve seen the story—now see how it was made,” Heated Rivalry posted on its official Instagram page. “If you’ve been craving more behind-the-scenes, this is it. I’ll Believe in Anything: The Making of Heated Rivalry Season 1 (The Annotated Scripts) dives deeper into the world you love, with never-before-seen scripts, scene direction, intimacy choreography, costume details, and insight from creators Jacob Tierney and Brendan Brady on how it all came together. It’s the kind of read you’ll fly through—and then go back to again.”
The book’s title is a reference to Wolf Parade’s song “I’ll Believe in Anything,” which plays in episode five of the show. While the song was released in 2005, Spotify reported that its global streams have increased by over 2,650% in the weeks following the queer hockey drama’s release.
Fans quickly took to Heated Rivalry’s comment section to express their excitement for the upcoming book.
“For myself that loves how fans break down the scenes and now we get a look into directors mind I love being spoiled,” one fan commented.
“This is so incredibly special,” another commented. “Thank you Jacob!!! With tears in my eyes and a warm heart we shall cherish your work forever. It’s such a privilege to get inside your spectacular mind.”
“The level of happiness this brings can’t be explained,” one user said.
The book will be released through Little, Brown and Company and Accent Aigu Entertainment. While a release date has been set for October 13, the cover art hasn’t been revealed yet. It’s available to pre-order here.
