The release of the seventeenth volume of the manga series The Story of the Useless Prefect and the High School Girl with an Inappropriate Skirt Length revealed back in April 2025 that an anime was in the works. The project has Daiji Iwanaga is directing it and Yo Himuro is handling the character designs. Zero-G is handling the animation production. Masahiro Yokotani is handling the series composition and working on the scripts.
With an April 6th, 2026, premiere date, Crunchyroll picked up the show recently as The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt. The show is now getting some new attention as Crunchyroll has brought out a clip from the 11th episode. Tougo and Poem’s dads face off in a rap battle!
The Japanese cast includes:

- Riko Akechi as Poemu Kohinata
- Hayato Dojima as Yū Izubuchi
- Jun Fukuyama as Seiichi Tsukishima
- Yuina Itō as Motoko Akina
- Ayaka Fukuhara as Rui Tasaki
- Yūko Kaida as Nadeshiko Yamato
- Tetsu Inada as Kaoru Kogori
Crunchyroll is streaming it with confirmed regional availability with it open to subscribers worldwide, excluding Japan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Laos, Mongolia, and Myanmar.
The series features the opening theme song “Hitorigoto” by osage, and the ending theme song “Heya to Garakuta to Watashi” by Me Minor.
The manga by Takuma Yokota is known originally as Ponkotsu Fuukiin to Skaato take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi RSS Feed Edit, which began in 2019 as serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius for Kodansha. Yokota made their debut in 2004 with Molester Man and have fifteen works to their name so far.

Plot Concept: Sakuradaimon Tougo is the school’s prefect. A prefect is a student who is authorized to enforce discipline. As a prefect, he’s supposed to be a role model to other students, but unfortunately, he’s not perfect. Kohinata Poemu is one of the people whom Sakuradaimon Tougo has tried to discipline into wearing appropriate school attire, but she has thus far been disobedient.
And so this is a story of the two interacting with one another.
