With a few different series under the same banner so far, Yukito Kishiro finished up the Battle Angel Alita: Mars Chronicle previously, and we’ve had the final compiled volume arrive in Japan. Kishiro confirmed at the time that a sequel series is in the works under a new name that will arrive in 2025.
Then, in the spring of 2025, we learned that it was going to take longer! The new iteration is called Battle Angel Alita: Panzer Kunst Chronicle and it has now been confirmed for a May 5th, 2026, debut on Comic Days with the first visual to the right released.
This series was known originally as Gunnm Kasei Senki, which began in 2014 and has eleven volumes in total, as serialized in Evening magazine and Comics Days.
Kishiro made their debut in 1992 with Bugbuster and has nine properties total since then.
Plot Concept: For centuries, war has raged on the dusty, red surface of Mars. This apocalyptic crucible will produce the solar system’s most fearsome warrior, Alita. But for now that warrior is just a little girl named Yoko. The future and past of the battle angel fan out across the reaches of space in the final chapter of one of the greatest sci-fi epics of all time.
