Gimme, gimme, awesome collab merch! The Japanese pop-metal band, BABYMETAL, announced on May 25, 2026, that it had joined forces with Capcom‘s iconic survival horror franchise, Resident Evil, for a limited-edition merchandise line celebrating the original Resident Evil‘s landmark 30th anniversary. Pre-orders are live right now through the BABYMETAL Official Online Store.
Formed in Tokyo in 2010, BABYMETAL pioneered what they call “kawaii metal,” a genre-defying collision of J-pop idol music and heavy metal that has earned them a devoted global following. In March 2025, the trio of MOMOMETAL, who joined as an official member in 2023, SU-METAL, and MOAMETAL signed a global deal with Capitol Records, becoming the first Japanese artists to sign a frontline deal in the label’s history, according to Music Week. Their breakout hit “Gimme Chocolate!!” helped introduce international audiences to their irresistibly chaotic sound, and their 2025 album METAL FORTH debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200, which is the first time an all-Japanese fronted group has ever made the list.

BABYMETAL has comic book chops too. In 2018, Z2 Comics released the graphic novel, Apocrypha: The Legend of BABYMETAL, charting the mythology behind the band. Art duties on the band’s first (and only?) foray into comics fell to GMB Chomichuk, known for his work on Super Pulp Science Magazine.
On the other side of this collab, the Resident Evil series celebrated its 30th anniversary on March 22, 2026, having captivated global fans since the original game’s release in 1996. The year-long celebration has been packed with events, including the launch of Resident Evil Requiem, anniversary concerts, special exhibitions, and the Steam re-release of the original trilogy. The latest entry alone has already surpassed six million players worldwide.
Now the two franchises are combining forces for a five-piece merch drop. The collection includes The Ladies Tee, The Dolls Tee, the Metal Outbreak Zip-Up Hoodie, The Ladies Acrylic Stand, and The Dolls Acrylic Keychain, each featuring original artwork from two Capcom collaborative artists: illustrator Hinanana and graphic designer GOTO, both veterans of Capcom’s commemorative art program with credits spanning Resident Evil‘s 30th Anniversary materials and the Street Fighter series.
