Dynamite has announced ThunderCats: Cheetara, an ongoing series for the franchise’s leading lady, written by Saladin Ahmed (Wolverine) with art by newcomer Andrea Ancari. Launching in the wake of the ThunderCats x SilverHawks crossover this fall, the book will see Cheetara, who possesses the power to see the future, embark on her own quest to confront visions that contradict everything she believes.
ThunderCats: Cheetara #1 cover A, by Mark Spears
The official synopsis reads, “Cheetara is used to hearing what others can’t… but this is different: Bold, relentless voices that contradict the Book of Omens and praise the Mu’Tants. Cheetara is fast, but even she can’t outrun these new visions that threaten to send her on a journey of discovery and danger…”
The book marks Ahmed’s first for Dynamite, and Cheetara’s first ongoing series. The character previously starred in a five-issue series in 2024, written by Soo Lee with art by Domenico Carbone, and last year’s one-shot Cheetara – Worldbreaker, by Nate Cosby and David Cousens.
Issue #1 will be released on September 9, with covers featuring art from Mark Spears, John Amor, Karen S. Darboe, Will Robson, and the original cartoon. Blind bags will also be available, each containing three exclusive mystery variant covers. In the meantime, Thundercats x Silverhawks will conclude with issue #5 on August 12, and the tie-in book Thunderhawks will also end with issue #5 on August 26.
