More Sales Charts! Neon Ichiban, the new digital comics platform, has released their Top 100 sellers for June. While there are no numbers, this does represent sell-through to customers, so definitely some interesting information.
Neon Ichiban does not carry all publishers: they are notably missing Image and Boom, which are also missing from most other digital comics platforms, aside from Comixology. Why? That would be the subject for an article all its own, so stay tuned.
The big news is that the #1 seller is NOT Absolute Batman! It’s Mega Man #4! Neon Ichiban co-CEO David Steinberger introduced the chart with notes of his own:
We just published our first monthly Top 100 Best-Selling Items list for June and a couple of stories immediately jumped off the page.
Mega Man X came out swinging. Udon’s revival landed four issues in the top 8 — #4 at number one, plus #1, #2, and #3 stacked right behind. Add in Timelines #1 and X #0 further down the list, and it is officially a Mega Man month. If you have not started the series yet, this is the sign.
Absolute Batman keeps rewriting the chart. DC’s Absolute line owned June — Absolute Batman #2 and #21 landed back-to-back at #2 and #3, and the wider Absolute family (Catwoman, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Superman, Green Lantern) popped up across the full 100. Snyder and Dragotta are not slowing down.
A few more standouts: DSTLRY’s White House Robot Romance #3cracked the top 5, Marvel’s Avengers: Armageddon #1 kicked off strong at #6, and Ben 10 #2 rounded out the top 10 for Dynamite.
Heidi’s Note: with the exception of Mega-Man, and Udon dominating these charts, (and the ack of Image) these are somewhat similar to the print sales charts we’re seeing. Why the big turnout for Udon? A quick check reveals that they are available on GlobalComix and Comixology, so maybe there was a promotion of some sort?
Anyway, here’s the Top 50 for your entertainment. You can read the whole top 100 in the link.
