Seven Seas Entertainment made out well again with the recent license acquisition of the light novel series Magical Buffs: The Support Caster is Stronger Than He Realized! by Haka Tokura and Eiri Shirai as an anime adaptation is in the works for it. Known originally as Zatsuyou Fuyojutsushi ga Jibun no Saikyou ni Kidzuku made, it began in 2021. The anime adaptation is set for a January 2027 debut with Hideki Okamoto directing it from the scripts by Takao Yoshioka. Yu Murakami is handling the character designs with JC Staff on the animation production.
The latest update on the project has a new promotional video, which Crunchyroll streamed a subtitled version of, along with a cast expansion.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Reiji Kawashima as Wim Strauss
- Hana Hishikawa as Heidemarie
The newly added cast includes:
- Akeno Watanabe as Camilla
- Masaaki Mizunaka as Chronos
- Wakana Kuramochi as Rita Heinkes

Plot Concept: Granting casters like Wim Strauss play an important supporting role for their team when times get tough, but after his talents hurt the pride of his party’s leader, he’s kicked out of the group!
Yet he’s not down and out for long. Wim’s luck takes a turn when he receives an invitation from his longtime childhood friend (and stalker) Heidemarie to join Nachtlibelle, an elite guild considered one of the greatest in the land. His talents may not be the flashiest, but given the chance with his new quirky crew, this supporting act might just be able to prove center stage.
