A panel at NYCC 2024 for the webnovel and its webcomic adaptation of The Beginning After the End revealed that an anime adaptation was in the works. The project had already been picked up by Crunchyroll, which will stream it worldwide outside of Asia in 2025. Original creator TurtleMe will serve as a story supervisor and executive producer.
With an April 2nd, 2025, debut for the first season, a second season is in the works with Crunchyroll picking it up in June 2025. The second season saw an April 1st, 2026, premiere date, and the Japanese home video releases have now been set. The series is getting done as separate DVD and Blu-ray box sets for the complete season. They’ll arrive on August 28th, 2026, with the DVD set priced at 29,000 yen, and the Blu-ray set at 30,000 yen.
The release comes with an original guidebook and an audio commentary by the cast for all the episodes. It also includes “The Strongest King in Singapore: Bonus Footage Part 2” that continues from the first season set.
The adaptation has Keitaro Motonaga directing it from the scripts overseen by Takamitsu Kono. Masami Sueoka is handling the character designs with Studio A-Cat on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Makoto Furukawa as Grey, Natsumi Fujiwara as Arthur Leywin, Kana Ichinose as Tessia Eralith, Chiaki Omigawa as Jasmine Flamesworth, Yamato Kinjo as Reynolds Leywin, Rena Maeda as Alice Leywin, Shinya Takahashi as Durden Walker, Taihi Kimura as Adam Krensh, Miyu Ogura as Helen Shard, Riko Akechi as Angela Rose, Shiori Izawa as Sylvia, Shinnosuke Tokudome as Faylis, Kana Ichinose as Tessia, Moe Nagamuta as Vio, Ryōta Ōsaka as Brald Landon, and Yumiri Hanamori as Samantha Tempest.
The original work began in 2017 on Tapas with just under 1,500 chapters so far and the webcomic saw distribution through Tapas in 2018. Yen Press brings it out in print.
