Manga about food make for good anime adaptations, and the Iron Wok Jan manga is now on track for a 2026 debut. The manga comes from Shinji Saijyo, which began in 1995 and wrapped up in 2000 with its twenty-seven-volume run. It saw release in English by ComicsOne and then DrMaster throughout the early 2000s.
With 2026 plans still on track, the production has updated with a new character promo focusing on Ikumi Hasegawa as Kiriko Gobanchō:
The project has Ei Aoki directing it at TROYCA. Makoto Uezu is handling the series composition while Masako Matsumoto is handling the character designs.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Kikunosuke Toya as Jan Akiyama
- Ikumi Hasegawa as Kiriko Gobanchō
- Kōhei Amasaki as Takao Okonogi
- Kenjiro Tsuda as the narrator
Check out the official site and Twitter.
Plot Concept: Young, arrogant Jan, determined to be named the best cook, competes in local and nationwide competitions and does not lose his focus, even when his cooking makes some sick and other chefs sabotage him.
