With the second volume of compiled material for the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan work out on July 19th, 2018, we learned about there being an OAD release with it that has apparently shifted to being an OVA that will get a theatrical release. That three-episode OVA series is getting an overseas home video release as Australian distributor Madman Entertainment previously scheduled a July 8th, 2026 date for it. That’s now getting a bit of a change, however, as it’s been rescheduled for a September 9th,2 026, release date. Everything else remains the same.
The 96-minute set will be priced at $49.95 on Blu-ray in bilingual form. No on-disc extras are listed yet for it, but the Viz Media North American release came with a 20-page booklet, and on-disc extras include an interview with Landon McDonald, the opening and ending songs, and trailers.
The original manga from Hirohiko Araki is essentially a series of one-shots spun off from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure produced since 1997 that focuses on the character of Kishibe. The second story was published back in 2008 in Jump Square.
The OAD is directed by Toshiyuki Kato with character designs by Shunichi Ishimoto and Stands by Kenta Mimuro. David Production is handling the animation for it.
The Japanese cast includes Takahiro Sakurai as Rohan Kishibe, Kaori Mizuhashi as Ikkyū, Mai Nakahara as Kyōka Izumi, Wataru Takagi as Okuyasu Nijimura, and Yuuki Kaji as Kōichi Hirose.
Plot Concept: Rohan’s ongoing quest to infuse his manga with a dose of “reality” drags him into a surreal world of the macabre! Gruesome revelations of the flesh and the supernatural morph into distorted forms of etiquette and death. A killer who guzzles the blood of her decaying lover. An episode of psychological panic and perverse obsession at the gym. A bizarre brush with fate behind the silent curtains of a church confessional in Italy. In Rohan’s world, what appears inane, even harmless, soon festers into moments of desperation and survival! Will his signature “reality” finally cease to exist?
