Last year, we got to talk about how Square Enix had picked up the Always A Catch! manga for print and digital release. The light novel series it comes from is by writer Mayo Momoyo and artist Itsumi Mito, which is known originally as Nigashita Sakana wa Ookikatta ga, Tsuriageta Sakana ga Ookisugita Ken, which is translated as The Fish I Missed Was Big, but I Caught Another Fish Was Too Big.
In November 2025, an anime adaptation was announced with plans for a spring 2026 debut. The production previously set an April 1st, 2026, premiere date. With the show underway, the production has now revealed two more cast members with Daiki Hamano as Goffredo and Wataru Komada as Macchio.
