Get outdoors and enjoy the nicer weather with a great read. Your littles will love the new titles hitting bookstore shelves this season, with a wide range of books that are funny, heartfelt, educational, and more. Here are some new titles to check out.

The Secret of the Old Clock: A Nancy Drew Detective Story

The Secret of the Old Clock is the originating volume in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories. The book, published in 1930, first introduced the teenage sleuth in a cozy mystery (no violence or gore). The story has Nancy solving the case of a missing will, hidden in an old clock, and helping the struggling relatives and friends of Josiah Crowley receive the promised money from his estate. Of course there are robbers, greedy will-altering heirs, suspense, and resolution. Monson’s retelling of the original book captures the plot and distills it in a way that is fun for children, gently ushering them into the literary world of Nancy Drew mysteries. Along with the story, there are activities, games, and puzzles throughout to help with children’s engagement, and might just foster a few budding detectives.

There is also a glossary of mystery-related terms.

Bearsuit Turtle Plays a Game: A Picture Book

Pass the ball, but be careful — the grass is hot lava! As “bearsketball” gets increasingly off-the-wall, the two friends compete to see who can find the biggest stick in the forest, roll down the hill without dropping the ball, and guess the number each one is thinking. Who will be the winner? And what are the rules to this game, anyway?

From Bob Shea, author-illustrator of the popular Dinosaur vs. series and Unicorn Thinks He’s Pretty Great, this charming and hilarious tale is an ode to the joy and freedom of childhood. With true-to-life kid dynamics, offbeat humor, and memorable characters, this picture book companion to Bearsuit Turtle Makes a Friend proves that everyone wins when you’re having fun.

    Little People, BIG DREAMS: Oprah

Growing up between Mississippi, Wisconsin, and Tennessee, little Oprah loved reading and performing poems and Bible verses at church. Sadly, life at home was very tricky, but Oprah didn’t let this hold her back. She worked hard to achieve a scholarship to university, and by age nineteen she was a news anchor on television! Oprah went on to do so many incredible things in her life, and is still one of the most powerful voices in media today. From the bestselling series Little People, BIG DREAMS, this title is the perfect gift for little storytellers and budding entrepreneurs.

Danny Go’s Volcano Adventure: A Picture Book

Magical ice gems hide deep inside a volcano… but LOOK OUT for hot lava! Can you help Danny Go decide which path is safe to take?

Trace, tap, and turn the pages to find the treasure in this interactive tale for young explorers from beloved children’s entertainers and YouTube sensation Danny Go! With fun challenges, cool science facts, and heartwarming moments, this action-filled story is perfect for kids who enjoy exploring the natural world and having fun with friends. Whether you’re a fan of Danny Go’s videos or just love a good adventure, this book will spark curiosity and joy.
