Mr Brainwash, the Bansky-inspired artist who blends pop art with graffiti aesthetics, will unveil his new collection at Westport’s Clarendon Fine Art Thursday. Mr Brainwash is expected to be at the Main Street gallery, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The artist will unveil his new collection, inspired by Vincent van Gogh, which will be on view at the gallery through May 3, according to a news release.
“The exhibition reimagines Van Gogh’s most recognizable motifs through Mr Brainwash’s signature fusion of street art, vibrant color, mixed media, and layered cultural references, creating works that feel both instantly familiar and entirely new,” according to the release.
Born Thierry Guetta in 1966 in Garges-lès-Gonesse, France, Mr Brainwash rose to to international prominence through the Bansky film “Exit Through the Gift Shop.” The 2010 documentary follows Guetta as he becomes increasingly involved in street art. It features cameos from other street artists like Shepard Fairey and even Banksy himself, according to MasterWorks Fine Arts Gallery
After premiering at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, it was later nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Mr Brainwash has since become one of the defining figures at the intersection of street art and contemporary pop, according to the release. He is best known for vibrant slogans like “Life is Beautiful” and “Love is The Answer.”
Mr Brainwash has also designed album covers for Madonna, Rick Ross, and more according to his official website and bio. His artwork was featured in films and television productions such as “Molly’s Game,” “Billions,” and “Shameless.”
