We learned in November 2025, with a trademark filing announcement, that the 23rd anime entry for the Precure! franchise was confirmed with Star Detective Precure! With the new series set for a February 1st, 2026, premiere date, Crunchyroll earlier this week confirmed its pickup of the show for when it arrives. Due to time differences, it’ll actually start streaming on January 31st, 2026, with a formal time to be revealed. It’ll be available to subscribers in North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and CIS.
Happinet is handling the Japanese home video releases and has set a four-volume run for it. The first three sets on Blu-ray are priced at 23,000 yen each, while the fourth set comes in at 27,000 yen. There are also seventeen DVD releases planned, priced at 3,800 yen each. You can find their dates here.
The project has Koji Kawasaki directing it from the series composition by Isao Murayama. Akane Yano is handling the character designs with Toei Animation on the production.
The Japanese cast includes Hikari Senga as Anna Akechi / Cure Answer, Kaede Hondo as Mikuru Kobayashi / Cure Mystique, Nao Tōyama as Ruruka Moria / Cure Arcana Shadow, Emiri Katō as Pochitan, Hina Yomiya as Mashutan, and Yūki Kaji as Jett-senpai.
The series has Ami Ishii performing the opening theme song “Heart ni Hint! Detective Precure!,” while Akane Kumada and Yūka Masui perform the ending theme song “Naze? Nazo?! ANSWER.”

Plot Concept: The series introduces us to Anna Akechi, a second-year middle school student who lives in Makoto Mirai Town. She travels back in time from 2027 to 1999 when her “companion fairy” named Pochitan appears on her birthday. In 1999, Makoto Mirai Town, Anna meets Mikuru Kobayashi, another second-year middle school student who dreams of becoming a great detective. The two girls witness the troubles caused by the Phantom Thieves, who steal people’s precious belongings, and they transform into great Precure detectives and use their deductive reasoning skills to protect people’s smiles.
