The mobile game Azur Lane announced back in September 2017 to be on track for an anime adaptation that began on October 3rd, 2019, and saw a simulcast and simuldub with Funimation. A second series was launched in 2021 with Azur Lane: Slow Ahead!, and we learned in September 2023 that a second season has been announced.
We learned earlier this year that the series is set with Shunji Maki directing it from the scripts by Yu Sato and Hotaru Asafuji. Nana Mori is on board with the character designs, and CANDYBOX returns for the animation production.
With it set for a July 5th, 2026, debut of the second season, Crunchyroll recently made its pickup of the show and I missed that they brought out a subtitled trailer for it below.
The confirmed cast includes:
- Nozomi Yamane as Javelin
- Yo Taichi as Ayanami
- Maria Naganawa as Laffey
- Rika Abe as Zer
The previous season saw Masato Jinbo directing it from scripts by Yu Sato with CANDYBOX and Yostar Pictures behind the production.

Plot Concept: This is a slightly peculiar world where the shipgirls live in. A lively and enjoyable school life for girls from different factions will begin at the naval port of Azur Lane. Living out their lives to the fullest, these girls get into various shenanigans—slowly but surely!
