Welcome to this week’s installment of The Beat‘s Comics Crowdfunding Round-Up!

White Ash 1 to 10 (and a half)

Creators: Charlie Stickney (Writer/Creator), Conor Hughes (Artist)
    Goal: $15,000
    End Date: February 18, 2026
Goodies: Get the digital copy for White Ash issues nine and ten for $11, get White Ash and Lilian for $16, get the physical copy of nine and ten for $22, or at higher tiers get the variant for $25, and much more!

The long-running, hit fantasy series about Elves and Dwarves in Pennsylvania, returns with two ALL-NEW ISSUES!

White Ash is a long-form fantasy series set in a struggling Pennsylvania mining town, blending American labor history with elves, dwarves, and dragons in a way that feels grounded and deliberate. The story favors character-driven drama over spectacle, allowing relationships, leadership, and personal legacy to evolve with real consequences that carry from arc to arc.

Rather than resetting its world, the series builds steadily, rewarding readers who appreciate slow-burn tension, emotional continuity, and careful world-building.

With nearly 800 pages completed and a proven decade-long Kickstarter track record, White Ash offers a consistent, creator-owned fantasy experience with a clear vision and the confidence to let its story unfold over time.

    Dino Knights: The Complete Arc

Creators: Zach Chapman (Writer and Letterer)
    Goal:
    $3,000
    End Date: February 26 2026
Goodies: Get the digital copy for #11, the Dino Knight issues five and siz for $22, the digital catch up tier for $29, or at higher tiers get the variant covers for $39, and much more!

Issues 5 and 6 deliver an epic conclusion to the arc!

Dino Knights is an unapologetically wild science fiction fantasy series that collides Arthurian legend, time travel, dinosaurs, and killer robots into a single, high-energy narrative. It wants to wear its influences proudly, channeling Saturday morning cartoons, pulp sci-fi, and classic genre comics while still delivering sharp pacing, humor, and emotional stakes.

It’s hard to explain to someone who wasn’t as invested in Saturday morning cartoons the way most children in the ’90s were, but its genuinely a project made with so much passion from that era. Issues 5 and 6 close the first arc with a full-throttle finale, capped by an oversized final issue that leans into spectacle without losing character focus. The series balances absurd fun with thoughtful storytelling, pairing bold visuals with momentum.

For readers who love genre mashups, indie comics with personality, and stories that know how to stick the landing, Dino Knights offers a complete, satisfying arc that invites you to jump in and enjoy the ride.

Write Through the Fear: A SOLO JOURNALING RPG by CULLEN BUNN

    Creators: Outland Games
    Goal: $1,000
    End Date: February 10, 2026
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $10, the standard zine for$20, and the hardcover for $25.

Write Through the Fear: A Dark and Hungry Place is a Solo Journaling RPG in which players create a horror story in a mysterious town.

Write Through the Fear: A Dark and Hungry Place is a solo journaling RPG that blends tabletop roleplaying with intimate horror writing, placing the entire experience in the player’s hands.

I admit, these kind of Zines have a soft spot in my heart, to build your own story alongside others is pretty great for a TTRPG — even more so when you’re armed with little more than a pen, a journal, and a pair of dice. The players explore a mysterious town through guided prompts that push them deeper into creeping dread, fractured memories, and personal choice. Each decision shapes the narrative, turning the journal itself into a record of survival, obsession, or collapse. The kind of thing that Game masters love to look back through and see the chaos that came from their stories.

While it’s designed for solitary play, the game uses atmosphere, introspection, and psychological tension over mechanics-heavy systems. Essentially you get more of lore heavy game play. However, with production already complete and a limited hardcover run available, Write Through the Fear offers a focused, unsettling experience for players who enjoy horror storytelling, reflective play, and games that linger.

    THE FORGOTTEN FIVE

Creators: Alex Segura (Writer/Co-Creator), Sara Century (Writer/Co-Creator), Pat Kennedy, Dean Kotz, and Craig Cermak (Artists), Oliver Mertz (Colorist), and Chas Pangburn (Letterer)
    Goal: no goal
    End Date: No end date
Goodies: Join the Patreon for $1 for a peek behind the curtains, $5 for every installment of TFF sent to your inbox, or $10 to receive early access to major chapter drops and much more!

THE FORGOTTEN FIVE promises a sharp dose of nostalgia, with a number of memorable twists and surprises – a story about getting older, chosen family, and the weight of legacy, crafted by LA Times Book Prize-winning author Alex Segura

The Forgotten Five is a rare kind of superhero project that reminds people Patreon has much more to offer than just art. It understands both the genre’s history and its emotional potential, mixing nostalgia with reinvention.

Drawing inspiration from Claremont-era character drama, it reminds me of the intensity of Legion of Super-Heroes, and the haunting power of stories about old friends confronting their closets skeletons. The series is bale to deliver something intimate and expansive at the same time. It is a story about aging heroes, fractured relationships, chosen family, and the long shadows cast by legacy, told across two eras.

You can tell from the project page the amount of work that has gone into its world and with writing from Alex Segura and Sara Century, they manage to prioritize character over spectacle. With artwork from a rotating team of accomplished, stylistically rich artists, each chapter feels alive in the best way possible. If you value thoughtful superhero storytelling with emotional weight, this project is worth your time.

    NEGATIVE BURN: The Anthology

    Creators: Various
    Goal: $10,000
    End Date: February 5, 2026
Goodies: Get the digital for $15, get the Joe Linsner, Francesco Francavilla, Sam Kieth, Dan Panosian, Joe Jusko, and Juan Doe cover variants for $25, the six cover bundle for $135, or at $100 the Linsner metal cover!

A collection of 32 personal and emotional memoir comics by Gen Z comic creators in Iran.

A classic returns! After almost two decades away, NEGATIVE BURN—the multiple Eisner, Harvey, Eagle, and Gem Award–nominated anthology—reignites under original editor Joe Pruett, delivering all-new tales from some of the most explosive talents in comics!

NEGATIVE BURN is the return of one of comics’ most influential anthologies, revived with the same creator-first spirit that made it essential reading in the 1990s. Under the guidance of original editor Joe Pruett, this new volume brings together an extraordinary lineup of legendary creators, delivering bold, self-contained stories that span genres, styles, and tones without chasing trends. A showcase of sequential art, where experimentation, personal voice, and craft take priority over formulas. With contributors ranging from Brian Bolland and J.M. DeMatteis to Paul Pope, Sam Kieth, and Francesco Francavilla, the anthology shows the full breadth of what comics can do when creators are given room to take risks. For longtime fans, it is a meaningful revival of a historic series. For new readers, it is an ideal entry point into inventive, uncompromising storytelling that treats the medium as an art form.
