The new country comedy from Judd Apatow and Glen Powell is officially called The Comeback King, and we now have a first look at its poster ahead of its early 2027 premiere.
After previously being known as an untitled original comedy, Universal Pictures gave fans a sneak peek at the project and gave it a title today. It signals that the company’s plans to tell a story about “a country western star in free fall” will lock into place when its release date arrives February 5, 2027.

Apatow, who is best known as the director behind comedies like Knocked Up and The King of Staten Island, is directing the project. He is producing through his Apatow Productions and wrote the script alongside Top Gun: Maverick and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie star Powell, who will also star.
Joining the actor in the spotlight are Cristin Milioti (The Penguin, Palm Springs), Madelyn Cline (Glass Onion, Outer Banks), Stavros Halkias (Bugonia, Tires), and Li Jin Hao (Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping).
“Turn it up,” Powell said when sharing the new The Comeback King title on Instagram today.
Powell and Dan Cohen are producing the comedy through a first-look deal between Universal and Barnstorm. Kevin Misher is also on board as a producer through Misher Films, with Barry Mendel and Josh Church attached as executive producers.
