A new anime adaptation is on track for 2026, with the August 2025 announcement that The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch is in production. The anime is based on the manga Kuroneko to Majo no Kyōshitsu by Yosuke Kaneda, which began in 2022 and has twelve volumes so far as serialized through Magazine Pocket for Kodansha. The manga is available in English through the K Manga service.
The anime adaptation has Naoyuki Tatsuwa directing it from the scripts overseen by Midori Goto. Takayuki Onoda is working on the character designs and LIDEN FILMS is handling the animation production.
The consecutive two-cour run began on April 12th, 2026, and the production has now brought out a new key visual for it.

Crunchyroll picked up the series with the simulcast available to subscribers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
The series features the ending theme song is “Tune Up” as performed by Spica Spica.

Plot Concept: Witch apprentice Spica Virgo can’t use magic at all. To earn a place in the magic school she dreams of entering, she needs a mentor-but she has neither money nor connections. One day, a mysterious black cat who speaks and wields magic appears before her! Spica wants to master sorcery, and the black cat longs to break a curse. The pair’s goals align. Thus begins their secret master-apprentice pact! And the key to breaking the curse is a kiss on the…?!
