The Baby-Sitters Club Super Special: Baby-Sitters on Board graphic novel
§ On The Today Show, The Baby-Sitters Club creator Ann M. Martin revealed the next graphic novel in the series, The Baby-Sitters Club Super Special: Baby-Sitters on Board. The book, adapted by Raina Telgemeier and Gale Galligan, follows the girls on a cruise in the Bahamas, and then a trip to Disney World. The source material was published in 1988, and marked the first in the longer-than-usual Super Special series. The adaptation will be released on September 15, and will be Telgemeier’s first contribution to the series since the first four graphic novels from 2006-08, as well as Galligan’s first since 2020.
§ BOOM! Studios launched a Kickstarter for the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Rainbow Collection, a five-volume, hardcover reprint of the core IDW run of the series. Writer Katie Cook and artist Andy Price provided randomized sketch covers for the project, which has already exceeded its $25,000 goal with over $150,000. The company also announced (via Bloody Disgusting) that the previously crowdfunded Hellraiser Omnibus Vol. 1 will be released on November 24.
§ Image announced Nights will return with issue #19 on July 1. The last issue of the vampire comic, created by Wyatt Kennedy and Luigi Formisano, was released in February, but its third arc had been a prequel set in the ’70s, and its next chapter will follow up on the events of issue #12, which was released in January 2025. The trade paperback of the series was released in the meantime this week.
§ Kyodo News reports Drops of God writers Shin and Yūko Kibayashi (aka Tadashi Agi), and Tomohisa Yamashita, the lead actor in the Apple TV version, were named Chevaliers of the Order of Agricultural Merit by the French government, for the series’ role in promoting French wine in Japan. The Kibayashis created the sommelier-themed manga with artist Shu Okimoto in 2004. Season two of the Apple TV series, which is a French-Japanese co-production, concluded on March 11, 2026. § Via Bluesky, Amy Mebberson revealed she and Harley Quinn co-creator Paul Dini are teaming up on Harley Quinn – Almost a Hero, a Little Golden Book releasing September 1. The picture book will see Harley retell “her comical adventures… and okay, maybe a few tiny mistakes… along the way to becoming a hero.” You can browse every upcoming Little Golden Book, which includes titles starring the Silver Surfer and more, at Penguin Random House’s website.
§ Lucasfilm confirmed Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord will return for a second season. The animated series will premiere on Disney+ with two episodes on Monday, April 6. The show, starring Sam Witwer as (former Darth) Maul, Gideon Adlon as Jedi apprentice Devon Izara, and Wagner Moura as Captain Brander Lawson, takes place between The Clone Wars and Rebels, and follows Maul as he rebuilds his criminal empire in the lawless regions of the galaxy.
§ Netflix announced season two of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series will be released on Thursday, June 25. The new season, which was filmed back-to-back with the third, will adapt the animated show’s equivalent, with Team Aang heading to the Earth Kingdom and befriending Toph Beifong (Miya Cech). Dark Horse’s latest Airbender comic, the three-part Kyoshi Warriors, will begin in the meantime on May 6.
§ After releasing the second Masters of the Universe trailer, Amazon MGM revealed Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite, a deck-building co-op game. It will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime and Luna subscribers on June 5, the same day as the movie releases. In the meantime, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, a beat-em-up based directly on the original series, will be released digitally on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Tuesday, April 28 (aka MOTU Day.)
§ Variety reports a film version of Adam Cesare and David Stoll‘s horror series Dead Mall is in the works. The comic, published by Dark Horse in 2022, follows five teens who discover a mall set to be demolished is the den of a cosmic evil. The movie will be written by Michael Varrati (The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula), and produced by Not The Funeral Home (The Last Drive In With Joe Bob Briggs).
§ Finally, Animation Magazine shares movies based on Johnny Hart’s classic comic strips B.C. and Wizard of Id are being developed by Underneath the Umbrella, a new production company formed by director Tim Johnson (Home, Antz) and producer Joe Goodman (Wildcat). B.C., created in 1958, revolves around cavemen and talking dinosaurs, while Wizard of Id, which was created with Brant Parker in 1964, is a Medieval satire. Both comics continue to run to this day. No ETA for either movie was provided.
