Sonoma Valley Museum of Art (SVMA) has announced its 2026 exhibition schedule, a lineup titled “A Year of Joy Through Art,” featuring four artists whose works SVMA curators describe as sparking humor, exuberance and a celebration of the human spirit.
Linda Keaton SVMA executive director said in a statement, “At SVMA, we know that art can bring people together and elevate our community. These delightful exhibitions featuring truly imaginative artists inspire people to see the joy in art.”
Maija Peeples-Bright’s “Life is Just a Bowl of Terriers” runs through April 26.
Peeples-Bright is one of the few female artists associated with Northern California’s Funk Art movement, according to SVMA representatives. She is known for her “beasties” — robust compositions bustling with animals, forming surreal, imaginative landscapes. The exhibition will offer a retrospective look at her career.
