If you’ve been eyeing the LEGO Game Boy set since it released last year, now may be the time to buy. It normally sells for a relatively reasonable $59.99, but you can get it for $49.99 if you buy it at Kohl’s and enter code TOYS10 at checkout. That’s the first deal we’ve seen on the LEGO Game Boy set, and thus the lowest price it’s ever been. You can do free store pickup if you have a Kohl’s nearby, or get free shipping with orders of $49 or more.

This set is phenomenal. It’s a nearly 1:1 re-creation of Nintendo’s classic handheld console, with buttons that feel just like they did on the original hardware. That was not an easy effect to achieve, we learned in our interview with LEGO Game Boy’s designer.
It’s not a working game console, but it does have a number of clever details. In addition to the Game Boy hardware and a stand for display, it also comes with two buildable GamePaks: Super Mario Land and Link’s Awakening. The Link’s Awakening cartridge even has a hidden battery-shaped LEGO piece inside, which in the original game allowed you to save your progress in the game.

Also, it comes with three lenticular screens you can put into your build that show animations when you tilt them. One is the Nintendo logo screen, and the other two correspond to the two buildable game cartriges.
If you’re still on the fence about picking up this set for $50, you can get an up-close look at the building process. We built this set when it came out, writing, “At 421 pieces, the LEGO Game Boy is the smallest of the available video game console sets LEGO has issued over the years, but in spite of a relatively small brick count, its efficiency of parts still makes for an exceptional whole. When it’s fully assembled, it looks everything the part of the original, although it’s just a touch smaller.”
