Oni Press has unveiled a “100% Human-Made” logo, designed by Matt Kindt, to assure readers no generative AI was used on a product. It will debut on Kindt’s new series, MIND MGMT: New & Improved, on June 24. The logo was created under Creative Commons’s Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license, meaning others can use or tweak it, as long as they share the attribution, “100% HUMAN-MADE © 2026 by Matt Kindt, LLC is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.”
The logo comes shortly after a BBC News article in March, discussing “The race to establish an AI-free logo.” The agency “counted at least eight different initiatives trying to come up with a label that could get the kind of global recognition that the ‘Fair Trade’ logo has for ethically made products. But with so many competing labels – as well as confusion over the definition of ‘AI-free’ – experts say consumers are in danger of being left confused unless a single standard can be agreed on.”
Other, prose-centric publishers like Faber and Faber and Books by People have employed stamps of their own design, stating no generative AI was used in their releases, while films like Avatar: Fire and Ash and Heretic have simply used disclaimers. Kindt’s logo, while not completely unique, is distinct from the designs the BBC reported on thanks to its use of a human hand and eye, similar to the Middle Eastern hamsa, which symbolizes protection against the evil eye (or in this case, “aye-eye.”)
MIND MGMT: New & Improved, the revival of Kindt’s surreal 2012-15 espionage comic, will mark the first series from his imprint Flux House at Oni, and will be followed by Fort Psycho (co-created by Brian Hurtt) in August. As announced earlier this week, both books will be physical exclusives. A Free Comic Book Day issue, previewing both titles, will be released on Saturday, May 2. In the meantime, the latest Flux House series at Dark Horse, Knight City, will conclude with issue #3 next week, and the (presumably) final one, Nano, will begin on July 29.
