Now, into March of 2026, there’s been a lingering question for fans of Dungeons & Dragons and that’s “What’s next?” Today at GAMA: The Tabletop Game Association, Wizards of the Coast broke the silence to announce a number of products for the 2026 through September including Sourcebooks, Adventures, and a variety of tools to help DMs and players grouped together in seasons.
With the introduction of seasons, Senior VP Dan Ayoub explained that book releases will work to ‘anchor’ seasons with a specific theme so that at the same time a book is releasing, there are complementary products being made available at the same time.
The first three Dungeons & Dragons seasons are:
- Season of Horror – April through June 2026
- Season of Magic – July through September 2026
- Season of Champions – October through December 2026
Season of Horror
The Sourcebook that will be serving as an anchor for the Season of Horror is Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. This book will be available to pre-order on April 13th with a release date of June 16th (as has been the trend with recent Dungeons & Dragons digital releases Hero Tier will obtain it a week before, while Master Tier will get it two weeks earlier).
In Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, players will get access to horror-themed subclasses, species, backgrounds, and Dark Gift feats.
For the DM in your life there will be additional content around Darklords and Domains of Dread. Stat blocks and additional information can also be found for important characters to Dungeons & Dragon’s horror settings/ Rudolph van Richten is specifically named in the announcement as a potential ally.
On the surface, I’m always a fan of seeing how sub-classes can alter the way I enjoy Dungeons & Dragons, but I also wonder how different the content in Ravenloft: The Horrors Within will be in comparison to Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, which was released in 2021.
The other products that will be released in conjunction with the Season of Horror are going to be a 60-card tarokka deck that will be usable with Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, a Horrors Within DM Screen, and a Horrors Within Map Pack. Each will be available for $24.99 and will also be released in June 2026.
Season of Magic
The Season of Magic is going to begin with a Source Book and an Adventure Book.
Arcana Unleashed is a sourcebook meant to be “the ultimate guide for D&D magic enthusiasts.” Features of the book include high-magic character creation options and a system for creating magical items that will grow with your character as they level.
The accompanying adventure, Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, is an adventure that focuses on the Red Wizards as a new Wizard War is brewing on the horizon. The adventure also promises a “deep dive into the pwoerful magical society of Thay.
Both of the above books will release in September 2026.
Also announced for August 2026 are Dungeons & Dragons Reference Card Decks. These decks for spells, magic items, and monsters will give players and DMs a physical card to help organize their gameplay.
This isn’t the first time reference cards have been released by Dungeons & Dragons. I was very impressed with their use in the recent Heroes of the Borderlands Starter Set, turning the pen and paper RPG into a bit more of a board game with cards that players can hold to better understand spells and abilities.
