The fall 2023 anime adaptation of the manga series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End got the nod back in September 2022. With streaming through Crunchyroll and then launching on Netflix in March 2025, the show has gotten a lot of eyes and attention before announcing a second season in September 2024. Back in March 2025, we learned that the second season was set for a January 2026 debut. Crunchyroll announced its pickup of the series for the season, with it set for subscribers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India.
The ten-episode second season saw a January 16th, 2025, premiere date. Now, Crunchyroll has brought out a clip from the 37th episode of the series overall. Frieren is a swiss army knife of spells…
The project has Keiichiro Saito directing it from the scripts overseen by Tomohiro Suzuki. Reiko Nagasawa is handling the character designs with Madhouse handling the animation production
The Japanese cast includes:
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Frieren
- Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel
- Hiroki Touchi as Heiter
- Yōji Ueda as Eisen
- Kana Ichinose as Fern
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark
- Atsuko Tanaka as Flamme Hiroki Yasumoto as Qua
milet is back for the ending theme song with a new original piece, “The Story of Us” for it.
The manga comes from creators Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe which began in Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in April 2020 and has ten volumes out as of this March 2023. Viz Media is releasing it in English.

Plot Concept: The mage Frieren defeated the Demon King alongside the hero Himmel’s party after a 10-year quest. Peace was restored to the kingdom. Because she is an elf, she is able to live over a thousand years. She promises Himmel and the others that she will be back to see them and then sets out on a journey by herself. Fifty years later, Frieren goes to visit Himmel and the others. She remained unchanged, but Himmel and the others have aged and only a little of their lives remain. Later, she witnesses Himmel’s death. Frieren is pained by her desire to have spent more time getting to know people. With that regret in her heart, she then goes on a journey to do just that. On her journey, she meets many people and many events await her.
