Not too long ago, DC Comics unveiled a redacted main cover to Absolute Batman #20 by artist Nick Dragotta and colorist Frank Martin via an Instagram post teasing the debut of Robin in the Absolute Universe. The publisher promised to reveal the full, unredacted version in early April, following the publication of Absolute Batman #19. Sure enough, as promised DC has released the cover giving fans a first look at the Absolute Robin.
It’s no exaggeration to say since it debuted, Absolute Batman (and DC’s Absolute line in general) is THE event book in comics right now. With every issue introducing a new character or concept, it’s no wonder it’s probably the best-selling comic right now.
Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder has been hinting for quite some time that the Absolute Robin would be appearing in the book. The internet has been flooded with memes anticipating a swole Robin to give Absolute Batman a run for his money. In fact, a gag in last week’s Mad About DC special featured an Absolute Robin gag. It turns out, it wasn’t too far off.

As the previously released solicitation teased, a major “loss” is set to occur in the book. Whether this means a death or something else entirely remains to be seen.
