The Yomi no Tsugai manga has been rolling along, and it’s getting some new attention. The manga comes from Hiromu Arakawa which began in 2021. The property has over three million copies in circulation in print and digital. It’s available in English through Square Enix Books and in French through Kurokawa. With the anime adaptation announced at Anime Expo 2025 and Crunchyroll picking it up, the series has Masahiro Ando directing it from the scripts overseen by Noboru Takagi. Nobuhiro Arai is handling the character designs with Bones Film on the animation production.
With an April 4th, 2026, debut previously set, the production has now brought out its first preview/TV spot for the first episode due out tomorrow.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Kenshō Ono as Yuru
- Yume Miyamoto as Asa
- Yūichi Nakamura as Dera
- Misaki Kuno as Gabu-chan
- Takako Honda as Left
- Rikiya Koyama as Right
- Miyuri Shimabukuro as Hana
- Junichi Suwabe as Jin
- Ayumu Murase as Gabriel
The series features the opening theme song “Tobu Toki” by Vandy and the ending theme song “Tobo Yo” by yama.

Plot Concept: In a remote mountain village under the watchful eyes of two stone guardians, the young Yuru contentedly lives off the land while staying close to the only family he has left—Asa, his precious twin sister. Asa, meanwhile, carries out a mysterious “duty” on behalf of the village while locked in a cage. Why is Asa a prisoner? And what other secrets does Yuru’s otherwise idyllic home hide?
