Say goodbye to your favorite Marvel manga titles, readers. On July 1, Shueisha Inc. announced that it will terminate its agreement with Walt Disney Japan for the latter to publish manga featuring Marvel characters this fall, with sales of digital and print copies ending concurrently.
The publishing agreement expires Sept. 30, and Shueisha will begin removing digital listings between Sept. 28-30. Digital editions will still be accessible to those who have already purchased them, but distribution will cease at the end of September. Print editions will remain in stores while supplies last.
This means Marvel x Shonen Jump Plus Super Collaboration; Deadpool: Samurai, Vols. 1-4; Spider-Man: Octo Girl, Vols. 1-4; Spider-Man: Kizuna, Vols. 1-4; and Secret Reverse will no longer be available. Each of the aforementioned series are complete, so at least readers won’t be left hanging. As for whether these titles will become must-haves for collectors, the likelihood seems small, but anything could happen.
