What They Say
After a missed connection years ago, office worker Mizuho developed an irresistible craving for deep, sultry voices. With such a unique fetish, she’s been on the hunt for that perfect tone to satisfy her desires. When she meets Hibino, a handsome salesman with a voice that’s smooth as velvet, at a company drinking party, Mizuho can’t help but melt. Captivated by his seductive timbre, she invites him back to her place, where just a single suggestive whisper sends her senses into overdrive. Is Hibino the passionate partner she’s been waiting for, or will her hopes for a true connection fall on deaf ears?

Known originally as Tonari no Joushi wa Zetsurin Ikebo, it’s also searchable as 隣の上司は絶倫イケボ, and it’s localized as His Sensual Whisper: The Voice That Sets Me On Fire for the English release. The manga comes from Pyoko Asahina, which began in 2022 and is ongoing with three volumes as of the start of these reviews. Full volume reviews just aren’t my jam or in my workflow, especially an omnibus, so I wanted to work through a series on my own schedule and spend the time to talk about it chapter by chapter. Seven Seas Entertainment picked it up in English, with its first volume arriving in September 2025, giving fans a new series to read through its Steamship imprint that’s designed for “sexy romance for women,” which invariably includes me because this kind of stuff is my jam.
This installment moves some fun things forward, but it’s also doing it through some really fun moments of intimacy. With the pair at the hotel after their meeting and dinner with Hongou and Nakamura, watching Hibino basically try to stake out his claim on her more after a bit of jealousy is a lot of fun. She’s essentially along for the ride, but as the two spend time in some post-coital bliss, they do talk and the jealousy is largely dealt with, with him making it clear that he knows Nakamura doesn’t have a thing for him. There’s a lot to like in their fooling around, but it also continues to lean into the problem Mizuho has in just not being able to let go and truly enjoy things since she’s always worried about appearances and the like. It’s really familiar to anyone who watches and reads adult dramas out of Japan, but it’s also just exhausting to watch someone resist simply enjoying who they are.
The work side of things continues well, too, as the four get along well and hit the project right. It does get amusing as Mizuho and Nakamura have to do some work together, and we learn that she’s got a voice kink herself – but it’s aimed more at how it’s used in work through sales and engagement. She started at the same time as Hibino, so she always admired that and how he voice was able to carry his work forward. That eases more of Mizuho’s concerns, but there’s some potential fun and trouble in the mix as when they return, they discover the guys talking about a site visit at the end of the month that will basically have them on the road. That could mean a potential hookup with Hongou and Nakamura if Mizuho can seed it, but there’s also the potential for miscommunications that could cause a few issues…
In Summary:
Spending half the chapter or so on sexytimes in the hotel bathroom works well for Hibino and Mizuho. The two are definitely connecting well, and he’s making it clear he only has eyes for her. That’s still hard for her to understand, but at least it’s out there clearly, and he’s certainly showing it physically and through smaller intimate moments as well. The two are a lot of fun and you just want to see good things happening as they figure it out more. The work side has its moments, and I’ll admit I want to see things work for Nakamura and Hongou as well as they’re fun with what we’ve seen so far. They both need just a bit more, but a work trip with all four can easily set that up and I am here for it. Especially with her having a similar yet different voice kink.
