10 LEGO Sets On Sale for Prime Day Before They Retire Next Month

LEGO is set to retire well over 100 sets next month, and some of the best sets of the last few years are on the chopping block. One of the best times to buy a LEGO set at a discount is just before it gets officially retired, but that’s also when it’s most likely to go out of stock. We’ve already seen the popular Legend of Zelda Great Deku tree disappear at every major retailer well ahead of its retirement date, and several other sets have followed suit.

If you’re wondering which sets are actually retiring on July 31, I’d recommend checking out this handy guide from Brickset. I’ve used it as a guide to pull out some of the most notable builds that are still in stock and actually discounted for Prime Day right now. There’s a number of great sets for adults discounted that will likely sell out before Amazon’s sale ends.

    Discounted LEGO Sets Retiring Soon

Some of our favorite sets for adults are up for retirement next month, which means now is the time to grab them before they’re gone. My own personal favorite is the LEGO Super Mario Piranha Plant set, which we first had the chance to build when it was released back in 2024. It’s incredibly affordable at this price and is absolutely delightful as a desk accessory. There’s also the Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi set, which is arguably one of the coolest Nintendo sets available. Our LEGO editor Chris Reed built that one and absolutely loved it.

The other notable theme here is the LEGO Transformers sets. Just like any of the popular Transformers toys, these sets actually transform into the car versions of themselves. Both the LEGO Bumblebee and the LEGO Optimus Prime set are scheduled to retire next month. Only three total Transformers sets have even been released over the years, so that franchise will be down to just the Soundwave set after July.

For Disney fans, the LEGO Young Simba set is worth picking up while its still available. Amazon has already run out of stock for this set, but you can get it for $79.19 at Target still. This is one of the best Disney sets for adults and one of the only Lion King builds currently available. If you’re hoping to grab a cool Disney gift for yourself before it’s gone forever, this is likely your last chance to do so at a discount.

Can you still buy LEGO sets after they retire?

It’s not impossible to buy a LEGO set once it retires, but it can be a lot more difficult. Online retailers will often continue to have stock available for sets even after the LEGO Store sells out, but only for the less popular sets. Once stock dries up online, you can really only find those sets at a markup from third-party sellers on Amazon or eBay.
