Based on the light novel series known as Class de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta, the anime adaptation of I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class was formally announced in April 2026. Hideki Tachibana is directing it from the series composition by Keiichiro Ochi. Shoko Takimoto is handling the character designs, and CONNECT is handling the animation production. Crunchyroll made its pickup recently, where it will be available to subscribers worldwide, excluding Japan, China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
With the show making an April 7th, 2026, premiere date, the production has now set the home video release plans with a complete box set. The set is scheduled for a July 1st, 2026, release date, priced at 33,000 yen. The set has the full 12 episode run across two discs with the clean theme songs and promos as extras. It’ll also include a booklet.
The Japanese cast includes:

- Yurina Amami as Kyoka Minato
The series features the opening song “Submarine Youth” by reGretGirl, and the ending song “Zutto 1-ban ni Shite ne” by Koresawa.
The light novels from Senya Mihagi began in 2022, while the manga adaptation is by jaguchi which began in 2024 as serialized in Shonen Gangan from Square Enix.
Jaguchi made their debut in 2022 with a one-shot with The Story of a Vampire Who Isn’t Good With XXX and a Crybaby Boy.

Plot Concept: This romantic comedy is set during a pandemic where schools shifted to a remote learning model. One night at a park, a high school boy stumbles upon his pretty classmate, who is desperately trying to “catch” Wi-Fi signals. Willing to help with her tech troubles, he follows her home – only to receive an unexpected proposal to move in with her. But is this girl really such a tech-illiterate as she pretends to be?
