At Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation, the Pokémon Company announced a free update and a paid DLC for one of the biggest games of the year: Pokémon Pokopia. Both launch in August, and among their offerings is a new skill that will allow Ditto to safely go underwater—meaning players no longer have to worry about drowning when they make aquatic builds.
The Pokémon Pokopia free update will be available to all players in August and introduces the skill “Dive,” which gives Ditto a bubble helmet that allows them to go underwater. This means players can create habitats and houses underwater, which will be particularly helpful in areas like Bleach Beach.
The Expansion Pass paid DLC introduces a new underwater town, Bubbly Basin, which adds new Pokémon to the game like Popplio, Mudkip, and Corphish, as well as their evolutions. It also comes with new mermaid-themed furniture, and will likely have story quests and other additions.
The last shot of the trailer also teases the Mythical Pokémon Manaphy, who first appeared in Generation IV.
Players can pre-order the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass for $34.99 starting today. The first part will release in August, followed by part two later this year and part three in 2027. Part two introduces more new features, and part three introduces another new town, which will most likely come with even more Pokémon.
